RECENT PROJECTS
During my extensive professional tenure, I successfully managed comprehensive humanitarian aid projects aimed at enhancing the well-being of both refugee and host communities. These projects, undertaken in collaboration with esteemed partners including the U.S. Government, Turkish Ministry of Health, and renowned organizations such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Doctors Worldwide Türkiye (DWWT), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), were instrumental in providing essential support. Noteworthy donors, including the Bureau of Population, Refugee, and Migration (PRM), European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), and the German Development Bank (KFW), generously contributed to these initiatives. Throughout my journey, I had the privilege of overseeing projects with a cumulative budget of approximately 30 million USD, ensuring their effective management and impactful implementation
United states refugee admission program (USRAP)
Under the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), I worked as a project focal point at the Resettlement Support Center (RSC), providing critical support and processing services for resettlement to the US. This was part of an MOU between IOM and the US State Department Bureau for Population, Refugee, and Migration (PRM). IOM manages the RSC for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). As a project focal point, I took part in the resettlement activities to the US in Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. In line with RSC MENA departments, I prepared applications for adjudication and provided necessary support to visiting US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officers. I facilitated security and medical screenings and provided information about arrivals to resettlement agencies in the US
Supporting refugee health and training center
During the second half of 2016, the Turkish Ministry of Health decided to establish Migrant Health Centres (MHC) in cities most densely populated by Syrian refugees. The centres were established in accordance with the practice of family medicine in Türkiye. The project improved access to health services for Syrian citizens under temporary protection, alleviated problems of access to services stemming from language and cultural barriers, increased the demand for primary preventive and curative health services based on the public health perspective rather than the migrant health perspective, and relatively decreased the demand for services provided by secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions through timely interventions of primary healthcare services
Supporting refugee health programme efforts to improve access to health services for Syrian refugees in Türkiye
The Turkish healthcare system has the ability to provide people-centered inclusive healthcare and social services to the vulnerable Syrian refugee population living in Türkiye. Syrian healthcare providers were empowered to offer services officially within an integrated primary care system. Additionally, services such as psycho-social support, case management, health promotion, and homecare services were provided. Syrian refugees received supportive care services from healthcare providers trained by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization
Provision of human resource support services in support to refugees in Türkiye
Hiring and contracting psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and translators to support the refugee and migrant population in Türkiye. By strengthening access to health centers in 16 provinces, including 24 refugee health centers, this project has contributed to the employment of healthcare professionals and the integration of migrants and refugees into the Turkish health system
Improving social services for refugees and host communities in Türkiye by supporting community centers and local initiatives
IOM Türkiye Earthquake response ERF/ERMA
Supporting Syrian and other refugees, along with vulnerable host communities, by providing specialized healthcare services, comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support, and preventive child protection services
The project focused on increasing access to the live-saving, and primary health and nutrition service to support the earthquake affected communities. The access to primary health and nutrition services enhanced through mobile clinics providing a minimum package of primary health care services
